Eagle Requirements

When you advance in Rank, you show that you have learned important skills, earned merit badges, served your community and showed leadership in your troop. Take pride in your advancement, and strive for Eagle, the highest rank for a Boy Scout
If your rank is: You should be working on:
no rank yet ...learning the Pledge of Allegiance, the scout sign, salute and handshake and how to tie a  square knot. You also must understand the scout oath and law, then apply to become a Boy Scout.  Buy a copy of the Boy Scout Handbook, that will be your guide for your future in scouting.
Scout ...the first set of skills, to get you to Tenderfoot. Your patrol leader and other leaders will help you learn, and get items signed off in your book, but it's still your responsibility to learn. Set yourself a schedule and work to it.
Tenderfoot ...more skills from your scout handbook, - the ones for second class. . Remember, everything you need for your rank advancement is in that book. Get in the habit of reading some of it every other day. - and yes, it's ok to get tings signed off now that are First Class requirements.
Second Class ...the rest of the skills from the Handbook, to get First Class, the sign that you are a fully qualified scout. Devon 50 also requires that you know all basic 8 knots: Square knot, Two Half-hitches, Tautline, Bowline, Timberhitch, Clove Hitch, Sheetbend and Sheepshank. Your target should be to get to First Class within 12 months of joining Boy Scouts. Remember, you will be asked about ALL the scout skills at your First Class Board of Review, even the ones for Tenderfoot and Second Class.

If your rank is: You should be working on:
First Class

...active participation in the troop, taking Merit Badges and demonstrating Leadership, plus service projects. If you need a leadership assignment, - discuss it with your Patrol Leader, SPL or ASPL, or with one of the adult leaders. They are all ready to help find the right assignment for you.
Star Scout ...helping to lead the patrol and the troop, and teaching younger scouts all they need to know to advance in rank. Take more merit badges and gain service hours for your troop. You are now expected to take on more responsibility for making decisions about the troop.
Life Scout

Eagle Requirements

..the last steps to Eagle. You are now an experienced leader, and need to show the way for younger scouts. Serve in a troop leadership position, and start thinking of how the troop does and should function. Help to improve Devon 50 in every way you can. Look up the Eagle Requirements, and get one of the adult leaders to be your Eagle Counselor. He will help you prepare your documentation, and to start planning and executing your Eagle Service Project. When you have the required merit badges, you are getting very close.....
Eagle Scout ..giving back of your time and skills to help the troop. You can still earn Eagle palms until you are 18 years old, and these are the times when you can do the most for the troop, to help others like someone helped you over the years.
