Michael J. Tucker, IV – #287
I have been a boy scout since Webelos, starting with Pack #113 (Webelos 1 and Webelos 2) crossing over to Devon 50. I was a member of the Stag, Owl and Eagle patrols, patrol leader for the Eagle Patrol, assistant senior patrol leader and senior patrol leader and receiver the Order of the Arrow membership during my time with Devon 50. I was awarded the J.B. Rettew award as Outstanding Patrol Leader and Scout of the Year.
Devon 50 gave me the opportunity to be a scout but I was also able to continue many activities outside of scouts. I experienced many trips with the troop including going to Philmont, canoeing in Algonquin, Canada, camping on the Potomac River on the C&O bike trip, white water rafting, national scout jamboree, even selling Christmas wreaths but my favorite scout memory is the high adventure trip to Mt. Washington.
My eagle project was at Washington Memorial Chapel in Valley Forge Park. I reconstructed the landings for eight cannons from the Civil War. There were several challenges with this, including figuring out how to move cannons from their existing landings and replacing them. The cannons were moved with the assistance of the grave digger (Mr.Troxel) and his bulldozer at the chapel.
In my free time, I am a member of the Conestoga Crew team, work at Berwyn Pizza and I hope to pursue a career with the military and the marines.
And over the years I have met many great people including scouts and leaders. I would like to thank Mr. Rohrbeck (for his patience and perseverance), Mr. Frey (for his knowledge of the use of power tools) and Mr. Emlen (a great friend who helped me start my Eagle Project) and all of my friends and family who have supported me with my scout career.
