Scott Toebe – #277

Scott Toebe was born on June 22, 1991.  He lives in Wayne and is currently a junior at Conestoga High School. Scott has one brother named Kyle who is 14 years old.

Scott became a Tiger cub in the first grade with Pack 111.  It was here that he met many of his friends and leaders from scouts.  Scott’s mother was den leader for  pack 111. Scott bridged into Devon 50 in March of 2002. Mr. Purdy, Mr. Scott and Mr. Harland welcomed Scott into Troop Devon 50.

Scott’s first trip as a Devon 50 scout was caving in West Virginia.  Scott was awarded the Daniel T. Kilcullen award in June of 2003 and the J.B. Rettew award in June of 2004.  Scott attended Horseshoe Summer camp every summer with the exception of 2005 when instead, he and his brother went to the National Jamboree at Fort AP Hill in Virginia.

In August 2003, Scott and many others from the troop traveled west to Yellowstone National Park for 10 days.  This trip included horseback riding through the Grand Tetons, white water rafting through the Gallatin River in Blue Sky Montana and swimming in Fire Hole canyon.

In June of 2004, Scott went for his Order of the Arrow Ordeal. He participated in several OA pageants afterwards.  Scott has enjoyed many of the trips with Devon 50.  He especially liked the ski trips to Elk Mountain, the mystery trip to Cape May, and the white water rafting trips in western Pennsylvania.

For his Eagle project, Scott widened the stream bank at Valley Creek. The purpose was to slow down the rate at which the water flowed, in order to allow the Brown Trout population to reproduce. The project took place in August and October of 2006. It involved several days of hard work.

Scott brought the music to Horseshoe Summer camp when he and his fellow band members Mike Scardina and Pat Hayes entertained the troop with nightly acoustic performances from their adirondack.  Scott’s passion for electric guitar began 8 years ago when he started to take lessons.  He now plays for Conestoga’s jazz band.

In his free time, Scott enjoys listening to music, playing guitar, and spending time with his friends. In his future, Scott hopes to attend Penn State University and possibly pursue a career in Psychiatry.
