Brendan Patrick Mahoney – #269

Brendan Patrick Mahoney was born on February 19, 1989.  He lives in Tredyffrin Township with his parents, his sister Erin currently attending James Madison University in Virginia and his brother Colin a sophomore at Conestoga High School.

Brendan joined Devon 50 in September 2000 after earning his Arrow of Light Award with Pack 81.   Brendan was the Assistant Patrol Leader and Patrol leader of Owl Patrol, and is now in Staff Patrol.  Brendan earned the Ad Altare Dei Medal for Catholic Scouts and Order of the Arrow.  He received the J. Barton Rettew, Jr. Award in 2005 and the Devon 50 Future Leader Award in 2004.  While Patrol Leader, the Owl patrol won the Lenker-Flood Award and Ellison-Whyte Award. Some of Brendan’s favorite trips include ski trips, the horse back riding trip, and summer camp at Horseshoe.

Brendan is a senior at Conestoga High School.  He will earn seven varsity letters in football, winter track and baseball.  He was named to the “All-Main Line” team in both football and baseball and received “All-Central League” honors in football this year. He was selected by the faculty to receive the Conestoga Old-Timers Award given to the player “who made the greatest contribution to Conestoga.”  He also received the Robertson Award as the football team’s scholar-athlete.  Brendan plays American Legion baseball in the summer for the Paoli Cardinals.

Brendan’s Eagle Project was to improve the condition of a historic springhouse owned by the Open Land Conservancy. With the help of his family and fellow scouts, he cleaned the house and surrounding area, re-plastered the interior, and painted both the interior and exterior walls.  He also repaired the fence along the street and cleared out the creek bed to prevent future flooding of the house.

Brendan would like to thank the Scoutmasters and Assistant Scoutmasters that have provided hours of their time in helping him achieve the Eagle Rank.  He would also like to thank his fellow scouts for years of friendship.  Special thanks to his family for their love and support.
