Zachary William Gavin  - #252

Zach was born on October 13, 1988 and is 15 years old. He lived in the Overbrook Farms neighborhood of Philadelphia until he was twelve, when he moved to Devon to be closer to his school.  Zach began his education at Friends Central School and then attended The Crossroads School for seven years.  While at Crossroads, he was a class representative and was a 100-point scorer on his 8th grade basketball team, scoring the second highest number of points in the school’s history.  Zach is now a freshman at Delaware Valley Friends School, where he is on the honor roll and competes on the JV soccer and Varsity basketball teams.  Zach is also a member of the Overbrook Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia.

Zach began scouting as a Webelos and achieved the Arrow of Light.  He so enjoyed scouting that he then joined Troop 176 in Narberth where he rose through the ranks to First Class as a member of the Apache Patrol.  After Zach moved to Devon, he transferred to Devon 50 and joined the Eagle Patrol.

In 2003, Zach became the patrol leader for the Stag Patrol, after serving as assistant and co-leader of this new patrol the previous year.  Stag has earned the Standard Patrol Award for the two years of its existence.  Zach was elected to the Order of the Arrow in 2003.  Zach has been a successful Scout salesman, earning top sales honors in Troop 176 and Devon 50 wreath fundraisers, including Rookie of the Year, $1000 Sales Club and Top Patrol and Troop Salesman.

Zach plans to attend college and hopes to play basketball for the rest of his life.  He looks forward to being active in the Order of the Arrow service organization, while helping his fellow scouts advance toward Eagle.  In his spare time, Zach enjoys listening to music, playing sports and spending time with his family and friends.
