Bryan Chia Hou Chu
- #233
Bryan was born on August 7, 1983 in Naperville, IL. He joined Cub Scout Pack 140 in first grade. The first few years of Scouting were the hardest for Bryan because he was at the age where the effects of peer pressure were the strongest. Despite these negative influences, Bryan persevered and even openly flouted the naysayers by wearing his Scout uniform to school.
In 1994 he moved to Pennsylvania and a year later joined Devon Troop 50. He currently holds the position of Troop Quartermaster. Other positions that he has held in this troop include Troop Librarian and Patrol Leader of Fox Patrol. Bryan’s tenure of patrol leader was very enlightening. After waiting for so many years to get the job he was very eager to get started. However, he soon found out that it was a lot tougher than it looked. He still enjoyed the experience, and culminated his term of office with the establishment of a sundial on the grounds of Camp Jarvis.
For his Eagle Project, Bryan built a compost demonstration site at the Pennsylvania Resources Council (PRC) in Newtown Square. When working on his project Bryan pioneered a revolutionary method of attack that he had started to learn while he was a patrol leader: planning…. Because of all of the careful planning, Bryan’s project ran very smoothly without any major errors or setbacks.
Bryan is currently a junior at Conestoga High School. He is on the school football and track teams. He also plays the cello in the symphony orchestra. Bryan has two brothers Charles and Jonathan Wu who are both Eagle Scouts. Bryan’s future career interests lie either in engineering or military service.
