The Devon 50 Court of Honor was convened February 28, 1999 at 8:30 PM

Michael R. Norton  - #231

 

Michael Norton was born on February 4th, 1981 in Bryn Mawr, Pa. and has lived his entire life in Strafford. He attended St. Monica's School in Berwyn, and is presently a senior at Archbishop Carroll High School in Radnor, Pa. He is a member of the Varsity Lacrosse and Football teams, as well as a member of various service clubs within the school.
In June of 1992 Michael joined Devon Troop 50 and became a member of the Beaver Patrol. His patrol leaders included John Burg, Joel Furfari, Rick Alloway, Dan Norton, Gary Alloway, Oliver Uberti, and Steve Cammann. Michael served as Assistant Patrol Leader and Patrol Leader of the Beaver Patrol. He served as editor of the Pelican Feathers and Den Chief Liaison. In 1994, Michael was elected to the Order of the Arrow.
Michael attended summer camp for 6 consecutive summers starting in 1992. In 1996 he completed the COPE course at Camp Horseshoe. Michael’s most memorable trips with Devon 50 include: the 1992 International Jamboree in Essex, England, the 1993 National Jamboree in For A.P. Hill, Va., the 1996 International Jamboree in Hanover England, the U.S. Naval Academy, and numerous mystery trips.
Michael has been a member of the $1,000 Christmas wreath sales club every year except 1997, when he was a member of the $2000 club. He was also Top Patrol Salesman as well as Top Troop Salesman in 1997.
Michael has been an active member of St. Monica's Church, where he was an altar server, and a member of the CYO youth group. He was a recipient of the State Representative Robert J. Flick Good Citizenship Award in June of 1995 upon recommendation of the St. Monica's faculty for his community service.
Mike's Eagle project took place at the Upper Main Line Y.M.C.A. in Berwyn. It consisted of the design, layout, and building of an outdoor exercising station next to the running track.
Michael's plans for the future include accepting an academic scholarship to St. Joseph's University and majoring in Business.
Michael is proud to be following his four older brothers, Larry (Eagle #161), Martin (Eagle # 179), Matthew (Eagle #199), and Daniel (Eagle #215) in accepting the honor of the Eagle Award to be presented to him.
