by J. B. Rettew III, President of the Board of Trustees of Devon 50, Inc.,
and Devon 50 Eagle Scout #29.
Timothy F. Murphy - #223
Tim Murphy was born on April 25, 1979. He lived at first in Devon, then briefly in New York, then returned to Devon where he has lived since. He attended Devon Elementarv School and T/IE Intermediate School, as did his two younger brothers. Tim' attended St. Joseph's Preparatory School in Philadelphia for two years before transferring to Conestoga High School, where lie is a senior and an active member of the Academic Competition Team and Concert Choir.
Tim joined Devon 50 in the summer of 1990. He has camped with the troop at Camp Horseshoe for seven years as a member of the Wolf and Staif Patrols, and in 1996 received the Silver Buckle Award. He is a Brotherhood member of the Order of the Arrow and in spring of 1997 was elected a Youth Trustee of the Octoraro Lodge. Currently, he holds the office of Vice President of the Devon 50 Explorer Post.
Most notable among seven years of trips and events were High Adventure trips: to Colorado, scaling San Luis Peak and the Great Sand Dunes; and to the Essex International Jamboree in England. For his Eagle Project, Tim organized the construction of three large waterbed and gym mat frames for the Montgomery County School for disabled children in Norristown,
In the fall, Tim will attend Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, where he plans to major in history.
