Steven V.R. Camman Jr.- #222

Steve was born on May 12, 1981, at Bryn Mawr Hospital. Since then he has lived with his parents, younger brother and various dogs in Radnor.

Steve joined Cub Scouts, Pack 47, when he was seven years old, eventually earning the "Arrow of Light" award. In October 1992, he crossed over to the Boy Scouts, joining Devon Troop 50 and the Hawk Patrol under Dave Scheidel, Jr. He attained First Class rank within a year. At summer camp in 1993, Steve won the camp-wide Rifle Shoot with Mr. Cavanaugh, and again in 1994 with Mr. Dunn. After Boy Scout camp in '94 he assisted at Webelos Camp held at Camp Jarvis, under Jason Scheidel. In 1994 Steve became a member of the "$1,000 Dollar Club" for Christmas wreath sales, and remained a member in '95 and '96, while also earning the "Top Patrol Salesman" award (Beaver) in '94 and '95. 1995 was a busy year! He also assisted Mr. Maloney with "Webelos Woods" by directing the Color Guard Presentation, which included planning, executing, and then writing up the procedures for future scouts. Other awards won that year were: Den Chief Service Award (Lanyard); the E. H. Richardson Award for "Best fulfilling the traditions of Devon 50"; and the Best Troop Advancement Record Award. In 1995-96, he was Patrol leader of Beaver and they won the Pennington Athletic Award. Also, he was elected to the Order of the Arrow, completed Junior Leadership Training at Camp Ware (where he tied for first place in the mandatory Cooking Contest), and received the Boy Scout World Conservation Award. He is currently a member of Staff and an Explorer scout. Steve's Eagle Project was conducted at St. David's Church and in their nationally historic Cemetery.

Favorite Troop trips were the Colorado High Adventure in 1995 with Mr. Dunn, and the 88 mile Philmont hike in '96 with Mr. Chippendale. In his spare time Steve enjoys fishing, hunting, shooting, mountain biking, mountain climbing, sailing and photography.

Steve is currently a Sophomore Honor Student at Conestoga High School and hopes to attend Penn State University. He works on the school newspaper, the "Spoke", as a staff reporter and photographer. His future endeavors are as yet undecided, but may include following his Grandfather's footsteps in academia.
