Jason Scheidel

Jason Scheidel and his parents, David and Terri of Phoenixville, were honored by the presence of Grandmothers Mrs. Catherine Cassizzi and Mrs. Mary Scheidel and Jason's siblings: Kathleen, Christine, Jacqueline, David and Peter.

Jason's Eagle project was a commission from the Wharton Esherick Studio, a national Historic Landmark for Architecture, to complete three tasks. The first task was to sand, prime and paint the Studio's deck railing and attached wood seating. The first of Jason's three crews of scout volunteers worked on this asssignment simultaneously with the other two crews three days last August.
The second task was to install a combined inlet/catch basin at a point in the circular driveway where rain runoff needed to be better managed to prevent the reoccurence of mud washing into and clogging the drain pipe under the driveway and creating a "lake" from the water backup. This involved enlarging the existing hole, making a mold, pouring a concrete bottom, installing preformed concrete retaining sides, mortaring these together and installing an iron grate over the above ground aperture.
Crew three moved some one hundred boxes of "sales desk stock" from the silo basement of the Studio to the atic of the renovated garage built by Esherick which now serves as the visitors center, exhibition area for contemporary sculptors influenced by Esherick and a sales desk. Once in the loft, the stock had to be arranged for easy access by sales personnel.

Jason is a Distinguished Honors freshman at Phoenixville Area High School. He joined Devon 50 in May 1991 and made his way from Tenderfoot to Life in the Wolf Patrol. For the past two years, he has been Senior Patrol Leader, a demanding job, as well as Troop Guide. He has received many awards in scouting and hopes to become a chemical engineer.
