Peter Leopold Jonak was born in Philadelphia on June 11, 1976. In 1984 his family moved to Devon. He went to Devon Elementary School and then to Tredyffrin-Easttown Intermediate School. He is currently a senior at Conestoga High School. Peter has a younger sister, Elizabeth, age 14, and younger brother, Thomas, age 11. In June, 1987, he joined Boy Scouts as a member of Devon 50 with the Eagle patrol under the leadership of Matt Hurff.
Under the enthusiastic and dedicated leadership of the Devon 50 staff, Peter has enjoyed many scouting activities and advanced through the ranks of scouting. His favorite trips included skiing at Killington and the mystery trip to Assateague Island. Peter went to Camp Horseshoe for five years and plans to go again this year. He served as Patrol Leader for the Eag1e Patrol in 1990-91, Quartermaster in 1991-92, and as Senior Patrol Leader in 1992.
In 1991 Peter was a recipient of Best Advancement Record, a recipient of Outstanding Accomplishment Award for painting and repairing he totem pole at Camp Jarvis, and was awarded the Silver Buckle at Camp Horseshoe. In 1992 he was elected to the Order of the Arrow. For his Eagle project, Peter and friends worked at the Freedom's Foundation at Valley Forge on restoring and improving the Medal of Honor Grove.
Outside of scouting, Peter has participated in swirnming, soccer, lacrosse, and school orchestra. He is a member of Young Life that is an organization devoted to spiritual development of young people. This fall he will attend University of Pittsburgh and plans to pursue a career in science or medicine.
